US Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Visit Pakistan for Iran Talks, White House Confirms

The White House has confirmed that senior US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will travel to Pakistan for a fresh round of diplomatic talks involving Iran, signaling renewed efforts to ease rising tensions in the region.

According to officials, the two are expected to arrive in Islamabad over the weekend to engage in discussions aimed at reviving stalled negotiations between Washington and Tehran. The talks are part of a broader push by the US administration to explore diplomatic solutions following weeks of conflict and uncertainty.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the delegation will “hear what the Iranians have to say” and attempt to move discussions forward toward a potential agreement. The initiative comes after Iran reportedly showed interest in face-to-face dialogue, although Tehran has not fully confirmed participation in the planned meetings.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has already arrived in Islamabad, where Pakistan is once again playing a key mediating role. The country previously hosted an earlier round of US-Iran talks this month, positioning itself as a neutral ground for high-stakes diplomacy.

Notably, US Vice President JD Vance, who led a previous round of negotiations, will not attend this session but remains on standby in Washington should progress be made. Officials indicated he could join later if the talks show signs of success.

The latest diplomatic effort follows a temporary ceasefire extension between the US and Iran, with both sides under pressure to find a long-term solution. Analysts say the outcome of these discussions could significantly impact regional stability, global energy markets, and the future of US-Iran relations.

While expectations remain cautious, the decision to send high-profile figures like Witkoff and Kushner underscores the urgency Washington places on restarting negotiations and avoiding further escalation in the Middle East.
